Australia's safest car seats

New protection ratings for 13 of Australia’s most popular car seats have been revealed, with only one scoring a maximum five-star rating.

The car seats were crash tested under the Child Restraint Evaluation Program’s new scoring system, which is more stringent than the previous system. The organisation points out that while tougher scoring means seats may receive lower star ratings, it doesn’t mean they’re less safe

Here are the results.

Protection rating results

Nuna Pipa car seat

The car seats were tested in rear and forward-facing modes, as well as booster if applicable. They were given a rating out of five stars.

Five-star rated car seats

The seats were also tested for their ease-of-use. The Safe-N-Sound Kid Guard PRO scoring the highest, with a four-star rating for ease-of-use, followed by the Infa-Secure Versatile, Novus and BabyLove Taurus on three stars. More information on the ratings is available at Child Car Seats.
