We said that March would make up for Feb flying by so fast, and we weren’t kidding! We’re approaching the first weekend of the new month and already there are more events happening than we can shake a stick at. If you’re in Melbourne this weekend it’s time to grab your diary – here are 4 things happening this weekend that you won’t want to miss.
French Film Festival
The Moomins are back, and this time they’ve brought some friends along for the ride! The French Film Festival is bringing an abundance of films to the big screen for the entire family to enjoy. Running from March 4th- 22nd, the festival features films both old and new in its take over of Melbourne’s Palace Theatres. Watch out for ‘Moomins on the Riviera’, ‘Asterix – The Mason of the Gods’ and ‘Nicolas on Holiday’.

Birdman Rally
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a man dressed as a bird attempting to fly! The Birdman Rally is back for another exhilarating display of daredevil antics this Sunday from noon. Watch in awe as the average Joes don their capes and take to the skies all in the name of charity. The kids will love the costumes and you’ll love the comedy – It’s a win-win. The Birdman Rally is held at Birrarung Marr from 12pm.

Port Phillip Mussel Festival
This weekend South Melbourne Market will be taken over by a celebration of seafood as the Port Phillip Mussel Festival comes ashore. Expect bucket loads of the delicious morsels, live music and heaps of fun entertainment for the kiddies. The festival runs from 11am Saturday through to 8pm Sunday with food offerings from some of Melbourne’s favourites.

WeetBix Kids Triathlon
Head to Catani Gardens, St Kilda this Sunday to cheer on the participants in the Weetbix Kids Triathlon. The mini athletes will make their move from the start line at 9am before swimming the seas, riding their bikes and making a run for the finish. We love anything that promotes health and fitness to the kiddies so this definitely gets our vote!
