National Simultaneous Storytime 2017

Put this date in your diary and get ready to gather the kids ’round. National Simultaneous Storytime is happening again, at 11am on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Young bookworms are encouraged to get together at their school, local library, playgroup or even at home to listen to a rip-roaring story at the same time as more than half a million Aussie kids.

Anyone wanting to take part can register for free, and you’ll get a digital presentation of this year’s book emailed to you. There are also a heap of activities to access to get the kids thinking about the story … speaking of which, is a laugh-a-minute tale!

This year’s National Simultaneous Storytime book is The Cow Tripped Over The Moon, which is a story of perseverance (and cows smacking into meteorites and hot air balloons).

Author Tony Wilson was inspired to write the book by his son Jack, who has cerebral palsy.

“Everything that Jack tries to do requires perseverance,” Tony explains. “He cannot walk by himself, or crawl, or sit for very long. Every day he practises these things, and gets tiny improvements to keep us going.”

The books explores friendships and triumphs, and will inspire young readers.

To get you in the mood for this brilliant, nationwide event – here’s Tony Wilson reading the book to his son Jack.

The Cow Tripped Over The Moon is available online with free shipping from Book Depository.
