Toys R Us Australia closing down

All of Australia’s Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us stores are set to close after administrators failed to secure a buyer.

The 44 stores had continued trading since entering voluntary administration in May, but today it was confirmed they will shut, putting about 700 people out of work.

What happens to the stock?

Stock is set to be liquidated in sales at the stores before they shut down in the next few weeks.

What happens to online ordering?

The online ordering system will close on Friday, June 22 with administrators McGrathNicol saying open online orders will be delivered to customers if goods have been paid for in full and the stock is available.

What happens with gift cards?

Anyone who has a gift card can use them until July 5, as long as they spend an additional, equivalent amount. So to use a $100 gift card, customers must spend another $100 in store.

What happens with lay-bys?

Lay-bys will be honoured until July 5, as long as the outstanding balance is paid and the stock is available.
