Kidney stones is surprise triplets

A mum has given birth to surprise triplets, after going to the hospital with what she thought was kidney stones. The US woman says she had no idea she was pregnant, let alone with three babies, before giving birth at 34 weeks.

Dannette Giltz and her husband Austin, who already had two children, are still in shock.

“(I) started getting pains, figured it was kidney stones cause I went through them before,” Dannette Giltz told KOTA-TV.

“You don’t ever see triplets being conceived naturally, let alone going 34 weeks without knowing. So everyone’s like, ‘We can’t believe it.’ I am like, ‘We’re still in shock. Trust me, we know what you mean. It’s crazy.” Dannette said.

In a Facebook fundraiser post Dannette, from South Dakota, explained that she kept ignoring the pain of what she thought was kidney stones until she couldn’t take it any more.

“I started getting pains in my back and in my side felt like kidney stones because I’ve had them once before. So I just kept pushing on until on Saturday I was in so much pain all I could do was lay in bed and cry. It hurt to move and even breath. So I went to urgent care thinking I’m going to have to have surgery to break the stones up… well doctor comes back in after doing a urine sample and said you’re pregnant.

“So they got the portable heart monitor and did an ultrasound and said there are possible twins.” Dannette was transferred to hospital, where they confirmed twins.

“They noticed the pains I was feeling were actually contractions, so the doctor checked and I was 4cm dilated. So I had to be rushed by ambulance to Rapid City Hospital. I get there and they did an ultrasound and saw one baby feet first so I would need a c.section.

“The doctor came in checked me and I was 6cm dilated so they moved very quickly and got me into surgery. Well, the doctor goes ‘baby A is a boy, baby B is a girl. And it was quiet. Then doctor yells ‘I need another blanket there’s a third!'”

“(Austin’s) reaction is like ‘Excuse me?! Put it back. Nope. You told me it was twins, I’m not doing triplets!'”

And the dad-of-five is still trying to get used to the idea.

“Once we left the hospital, she’s out of the hospital, I know she’s OK. I am overwhelmed. Honestly, it’s still exploding in my head,” Austin Giltz said.

The couple’s 10-year-old son Ronnie says he’s always wanted more siblings.

“I wished for a baby brother and a baby sister and I knew this day was always gonna come,” said Ronnie.

Dannette says she didn’t feel any movement from the three babies over her 34-week pregnancy and didn’t get morning sickness.

The couple named their surprise triplets Blaze, Gypsy and Nikki.
