Aussie boffins have crunched the data and analysed birth certificates to reveal the most popular baby names in each Australian state for 2019, and there are two very clear front runners.

In fact, for the past few years, the name Oliver has been incredibly popular just about everywhere in Australia, while Olivia and Charlotte usually take the honours for the girls. But delve a little deeper in the top ten names and you’ll find some unique treasures gaining in popularity.

Here are the most popular baby names across Australia in 2019.

Most popular baby names in Victoria – 2019

Top of the pops in Victoria are two of the most popular names in the nation at the moment – Oliver for boys and Olivia for the girls. It’s the sixth consecutive year these two have been the most popular names in Victoria.
