Blue Treehouse hack Kmart

For real life, we’ve found the most incredible hack bringing together two of our favourite things – Bluey and Kmart.

Mum Lisa‎ Villaume has turned her crafting skills to transforming the adorable Kmart Wooden Treehouse ($39) into the ultimate house for Bluey and her fam. And we’re in love.

Lisa shared the hack to the Bluey Facebook page, saying. “This was originally a Treehouse from Kmart and lately, Zachary my three-year-old has shown an interest in pretend play. So I decided to make a Bluey doll house for him! It was so much fun hacking this treehouse for him and he loves it.”

How to make a Bluey doll house

Lisa kindly shared all the materials she used and how she transformed the treehouse into a wooden wonder with all sorts of little Bluey touches. Here’s what she did:

  • Painted in white, grey and a pale orange chalk paint as that’s what I had from leftover projects
  • Made a Bluey poster for the wall using kebabs sticks and a swing tag from a Bluey plush
  • Made planters using fake foliage and a cut piece of dowl
  • Made a coffee table from wooden play blocks
  • Added a sink (milk bottle lid spray painted silver) and drying rack to the kitchen (kebabs sticks)
  • Hand sewed a pillow, blanket and rug for the bedroom
  • Added ceiling lights and a floor lamp
  • Added a few pieces of hessian and felt which I had at home already from Spotlight as rugs
  • Cut and attached a pine wall on the lower level
  • Glued the balcony rails in as they kept falling out
  • Painted the roof grey in Rustoleum Aged Grey
  • Added a planter box to the stairs

And here’s what she used:

Lisa says her young Bluey lover is stoked with his new treehouse. “He’s so happy with it and was playing with it most of the day.”

Great hack, mumma!
