Babies love sandpits, but they also want to eat all of the things, which makes for little mouths full of sand. So one canny mumma has created sand that’s perfectly safe to eat.

It’s a deliciously sweet sensory play idea made from just one ingredient you probably have in the pantry.

TikTok user Ella Anna Christine shared a quick video of how to create edible sand for toddlers – and all it involves is blitzing up some Cheerios cereal in a blender. That’s it.

The cereal comes out just like sand – a super-fine crumb that’s fun for playing in and safe to eat. The US-based mum then poured the edible sand into a container with beach toys, and her tot was ready for some fun in the sun.
