6 Baby Nasal Aspirators (That Sucks Out all the Goop)

Babies get blocked, snuffly noses a lot. And being able to help them breathe easier means better sleep, easier feeding and a happier babe. As a parent, I found a Baby Nasal Aspirator to be super handy for unblocking little noses, especially during those early months when babies predominantly breathed out of their mouth.

A nasal aspirator is a suction device that hygienically unblocks and removes the mucus caused by colds. Tiny airways and the inability to clear the snot themselves make congestion particularly upsetting for little ones, but aspirators can help babies breath again, and us parents feel more comfortable.

Type of aspirators

  1. An electric nasal aspirator is either rechargeable or battery-operated and simple to use.
  2. Manual aspirators usually require nasal saline drops to help loosen mucus before either using a bulb aspirator or a one-way tube that is sucked on by a parent.

Noise levels – We found some electric aspirators to be a little noisier than manual ones, so keep this in mind if your child is easily upset by strange noises.

Suction levels – Some of the electric aspirators we’ve seen only had one suction level, while others had several level settings which are good for tiny babies with little noses.

Age restrictions – Not every baby nasal aspirator is suitable to use from birth.

Accessories – Some nasal aspirators come with spare nozzles of different sizes which was handy, and some even came with handy carry cases.

When should you use a nasal aspirator?

Nasal aspirators can be used when your baby has a stuffy or congested nose due to colds, allergies, or other respiratory conditions. It can help relieve discomfort and improve breathing. Some parents suggest using an aspirator before meals to clear airways and help little people feed easier.
