America votes on their favourite baby names
We’ve searched far and wide (actually, we just went across the pond to the United States) where American parents were asked to weigh in on their favourite ‘quirky’ baby name.
Nameberry then collated the data based on each of the 50 American states (plus the District of Columbia, which, for the record, is not a state) and shared the results with the rest of the world.
And we are so happy they did. Because what other baby name list would include both the cutest and the cruellest names you’ve ever encountered?
Only in America.

Okay, so, let’s dissect the lists, shall we? Clearly Americans love the letter Y when choosing a girl’s name with 21 of the 51 baby girl names including a Y. And some of these American baby names include more than one Y (like Braylynn) Because Y not?
As for the boys… names starting with J and B proved most popular with 13 of the 51 names starting with these two letters. While some of the unique names are quite adorable and definitely worth adding to your lists, a lot of them are probably better choices for your dog.
