The Lunar New Year starts this year on January 22, and babies who arrive from now until February 9, 2024 are born little bunnies.

Year of the Rabbit

While the Western new year is always celebrated on January 1, the Chinese New Year starts on a different date each year. That’s because it’s based on the lunar calendar – it will normally fall between January 21 and February 20.

The Chinese zodiac follows a 12-year cycle, and according to Asian astrology the year you’re born and the animal this represents says a lot about the type of person you’ll become.

Even though the animals are cycled through every 12 years, there are different varieties. This is the first year of the Water Rabbit since 1963.

What it means for your baby

When we think about bunnies, the image of gentleness often comes to mind. They’re not the loudest animals in the kingdom and the same can be said for little ones born in the Year of the Rabbit. But don’t be fooled though – behind their quiet personality lies confidence and strength. They are positive little people, focused on their goals no matter what challenge is front of them.

A little bunny born in 2023 will also be quite the social butterfly and win everyone over with their kindness. Boys will be polite and do whatever they can to avoid conflict. The colours pink, purple, blue, grey, red are considered lucky for Rabbits. So too is black, which may not work for a nursery but certainly does lend for uber cool fashion choices later in life.

Be sure to mark down their lucky numbers of three and nine. As for other interesting facts, the lily and snapdragon are considered favoured flowers and the direction they should head for attracting wealth? Northeast and Southwest.

It’s recommended Tigers steer clear of brown and white and the numbers five and eleven.
