Get ready for some cute news coming out of the Masterchef world, 2023 winner Brent Draper and his wife Shonleigh have welcomed their second baby together, a boy named Bowie.
In an exclusive interview with Woman’s Day, the home cook shared the exciting announcement that Bowie made his grand entrance in November during an amazing home birth that he almost missed.

The name Bowie has Scottish origins and is derived from the Gaelic word “bàgh,” which means “small bay” or “inlet.” It is a name with a nautical touch, making it a cool and distinctive choice for a baby. Of course, it’s also associated with the legendary musician David Bowie, adding a rockstar flair.
While chatting about the story of Bowie’s birth Brent shared that while he was sidelined for the delivery he got to work on making some sourdough bread for Mumma to enjoy after she had their second child.
“If I ever had a baby, after pushing it out, I’d think a nice, fresh loaf of bread with butter is exactly what I’d want,” Brent said.
“So I put the bread on, and next minute things went from zero to 100 and the baby was born, and all of a sudden my alarm went off for the bread. He was born before the sourdough was ready.”
We mean, who wouldn’t love a batch of freshly baked, warm sourdough right after giving birth? The perks of being married to a Masterchef winner!
Shonleigh goes on to describe that five-year-old Alfie is over the moon with the newest addition to their family and loves being a big brother.

“We originally thought he’s going to think here’s this kid coming into our life and taking all the attention away from me, but he’s been the opposite. He’s obsessed with him – he kisses him on the head, he’s getting bottles. He just keeps telling us, ‘Mum, I can’t believe I’m a big brother’.”
Cue the awwww’s!

Masterchef’s Brent Draper is cooking up another baby surprise

Another member is being added to the Masterchef kitchen with current contestant Brent Draper announcing that he and his wife Shonleigh are expecting their second child together.
Posting to Instagram amidst his usual Masterchef content, Brent shared a very sweet video of the moment that the couple shared the news with their 4-year-old son Alfie that he is going to be a big brother.

In the heartwarming video, Alfie steals the show with his cute and hilarious remarks about already knowing the news, not believing the news, and finally being super excited about the news.
The comments were flooded with congratulations from fans and Masterchef friends alike with nothing but love and excitement from everyone.
Brent was initially introduced to Australian screens back in the 2020 season of Masterchef where he became the first ever contestant to voluntarily leave the show.
The tradie-turned-chef made the announcement mid-season that the pressure was too much for him, and he wanted to leave to protect his mental health. Supported by the judges and the other contestants, Brent left the show to go home to be with Shonleigh and Alfie.
“This is the moment I put my hand up, and asked for help. This is the moment I’ll never forget, and one I’m bloody proud of. This is the moment I put my mental health first, before anything else. This is the moment I want my son Alfie to see, I want him to see that it’s okay to not be okay, it’s okay to hurt and it’s okay to cry. This is the moment that changed everything for me.”

With the commencement of the 2023 season, fans were surprised with Brent’s return to their screens to once again take a shot at the Masterchef trophy.
